Barn Cooling Systems

A healthy cow that is not affected by heat can maintain its productivity at an optimal level. However, when climatic conditions deteriorate, milk production drops sharply. To produce milk at the highest quality and quantity, a dairy cow must breathe large amounts of oxygen to meet its metabolic needs.

Especially in hot climates and during summer months, it is often observed that systems relying solely on ventilation fans are insufficient. When the outside temperature rises above 40°C, fans only provide air circulation to help distribute heat inside; however, lowering the barn temperature to around 25°C, the comfort temperature for cows, is often not possible.

In such seasons and regions, evaporative cooling systems stand out as the most effective and economical solution to achieve an ideal barn climate. These systems work on the principle of water evaporation, absorbing heat from the air and delivering cooled air that is 6–12°C lower than the outside temperature, with optimized humidity levels.

  • Continuous fresh air supply: Expels hot, stale air while providing clean, cool air.

In conclusion, using evaporative cooling systems during high temperature periods significantly improves both animal comfort and milk production efficiency, directly contributing to farm profitability.
